Just a brief update . . . We’ve all been up since 6 yesterday morning. Began our summit bid at eleven last night and were off the mountain by 10:30 this morning. Rested at base camp, packed up, hiked 45 minutes down to the bus and headed in to our hotel in Quito. I had a horrible descent . . . more on that later. I’m going to bed.
At the summit of Cotopaxi at sunrise--all 10 made it to the top, but Toby and Eric arrived about half an hour after the photo. As much as we wanted to, it wasn't safe for us to stay on the mountaintop for so long.
