Here’s what we know:

The 7.8 earthquake occurred Saturday night at 6:58 pm with the epicenter in Esmeraldas and Manabí. 238 people have been killed.

Compassion staff and pastors are safe.

Manabi is the area where our churches/sponsorship programs are most affected. It is isolated by land communication due to damages in many road bridges and in Manta Airport.

Water reservoir towers have collapsed in the areas of several of our churches/sponsorship programs so water distribution is compromised.

Esmeraldas Province has serious infrastructure damage.

San Lorenzo and its islands are free of infrastructure damage. However they have no electricity, no internet.
